Test Technician

With the recent intensification of the global space race, the demand for task execution in space is rapidly increasing. 
GITAI applies the general-purpose autonomous space robotics technology, know-how, and experience to develop extra-vehicular robotics (EVR) that can execute docking, repair, and maintenance tasks for On-Orbit Servicing (OOS) or conduct various activities for lunar base construction and exploration.

The Test Technician supports mechanical / electrical engineers and assists with the day-to-day management of GITAI’s R&D and testing activities.

 

Responsibilities

1.    Preparation of test jigs and testing equipment

a.    Assembly of mechanical and structural parts, degreasing & cleaning, torque control, and press fitting

b.    Making electrical cables, caulking, soldering, and operation checks

c.    Additional machining if needed

2.    Preparation of test equipment

a.    Assembly of custom test equipment (torque test, bending moment test)

b.    Create wiring between devices operating in vacuum chambers and thermostatic chambers

c.    Setup for logging GPIO and other data

3.    Conducting Tests

a.    Prepare test procedures (test recipes)

b.    Program and operate equipment and conduct tests based on test procedures

i.    Vacuum chamber

ii.    Environmental test chamber

iii.   Thermal vacuum chamber

c.    Documentation of test results on data sheets and input forms

d.    Compile data and prepare test report

e.    Attend outside testing, support for transportation, installation, and removal

f.    Initial analysis of defects in the tested product (consideration of whether to continue the test or not)

4.    Other

a.    Assist with area efficiency and 5S improvement projects.

 

Required Qualifications

●    2+ years of experience in test procedure development or improvement of manufacturing / production environment

●    High school diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications

●    Experience in thermal vacuum testing 

●    Experience in vibration /shock testing

●    Ability to consider quality of assembly with general electrical and mechanical knowledge

●    Ability to consider the sequence of test execution, technically assess the results, and perform additional testing as needed.
